Day 6 – Oz Trip – The GOR Part 1 : Seaferry Ride

6th day entry will be the most adventurous part in my Oz Trip 2014. Its the longest journey by road to all of us in Aussie ya..not like the one europe tu lagi panjang aa.. but I have to say worth the distance…worth every effort that we all had gone through.

Before the trip, I have been doing some research to find the best alternative way to get there. Back in 2006, me and mr hubby had reached all the famous pit stops along The Great Ocean Road. The only differences here is that we took a day tour package that cost us around aud$180 per pax. Took a tour bus and enjoy our ride!

This time ..to be more cost effective..my dad will be driving and I have to be the tour guide! Ahaha..but again last time we travelled from Melb…4 hrs journey from Melb..this time we were from Sorrento. The other side of Victoria and it’ll take double travel journey time due to the distance via road.

After all those Googling and reading travelling books…found this Searoad Ferries site that can bring all of us including our vehicle across to Queenscliff.

YEAY! Will at least save 4 hours of our journey. The only thing that bothers me at first was the cost. If we take both way…it’ll be too costly! 😅 45 minutes of ferry ride. Sapa taknak kan swap 45 min dengan 4 jam!!😭

Finally when the day arrived, we decided to take the searoad ferries, with at back of our head ..planning if only…we can manage to return before the final ferry time then we’ll take the ferry ride home!! 😂

We managed to catch the 10am ferry and it was drizziling.. Mujur sempat. Moving in a big group is not easy so lets just relax and enjoy the pace. LoL! Being me I will remind everyone to siapla!! Somebody has to take care of the timing!😣

Alhamdulillah..everyone was sooo excited to start this adventurous journey. Well for me..my dad mama and Aiq we are already used to this kind of ferry when we crossed over the English Channel to reach Nice, France via P.O Ferries. But still that was in 1998!!! Sapa kata tak teruja! 😅😂

We just drove in straight to the drive thru counter and pay the fees. It was aud$59 for a car plus 1 adult and a family of 4 and we had to add the rest as per head. Aud10 per adult. Child Aud8 per head. Aqib was 2 plus so FOC. (Price as at June 2014)

Once we had parked our car safely in the ferry (my kids tak pernah naik ferry gi Penang) so depa ni jakun la sikit. Ahaha..we were asked to climb up to the ferry centre. You can excess via steepy staircase or for my mom she took the elevator. Don’t worry developed countries normally they are very disable friendly.

Mr hubby pun first time rupanya! He was also excited! I brought up some biscuits and Aqib’s milk for us to have some light snacks up there…but guess what no outside food is allowed.

Bought some hot chocs and hang around at the lounge until we arrive. It was warm and cosy in there..until we decided to go out by the deck to checkout the sea.

After 15 mins spending time outside we were feeling a bit too cold and went inside to finish our hot choc. The great thing is that they even have a small indoor playground. Apa lagi mainlah puas2 si Wawa and Aqib.

Suddenly they announced that we have finally arrived. Wow that was such a short journey! We 😍😍 the trip very much. Now to conquer the famous Great Ocean Road😂
